This is Ross Perry's DVM personal experience
with a cat bite.

As a vet working a small practice in Australia, I occasionally am bitten and scratched by cats and dogs. Neither dog nor cat scratches cause me concern apart from brief annoyance and pain. They usually do not become infected.

My Protocol: wash wounds liberally under tap, squeeze out blood liberally for a few minutes, then disinfect and apply pressure for 5 minutes or so to stop bleeding.

I have found that cat bites are usually a different story and rapidly turn septic without a prompt course of broad spectrum "appropriate" antibiotic e.g. Clavulanic Acid Potentiated Amoxicillin).

Recently I was bitten deeply into both sides of left thumb (1 puncture each) and also got 4 deep bites matching each canine tooth into the upper right forearm and virtually had to choke the cat with my left hand to get it to try to take a breath and let go!

I followed my usual protocol except this time I decided to test the Transfer Factor Plus on myself in place of the antibiotics.

I started myself on 1 Transfer Factor Plus capsule 3 x a day and like most clients found my compliance a little lacking and probably had 2 instead of 3 some days for 3-4 days.

One bite on my thumb became very swollen and inflamed like a solid tissue blister about 1.5 cm diameter and by day 2 and I became concerned but
elected to give it another 24 hrs before hitting the antibiotics.

Fortunately it was obviously getting better within the next 24 hrs and I took the caps for another day or so and stopped.

My arm responded and virtually healed without complications and my thumb healed quickly as well.

Next bite I intend reaching for my transfer factor plus instead of antibiotics.

I am happy to tell some clients of my experiences if they are not "antibiotic dependent customers" and are open to integrative healing.

Protocol for Bites: Take 3-5 transfer factor plus capsules 3 times a day for 5 to 7 days or until reddness, swelling and pain has subsided.
